Following the shocking news about our fellow pool player, Craig William's, accident, Chairman Lee Holmes announced at the captain's meeting on Sunday 6th Nov, that Chris Wilcock is setting up a 'GoFundMe' for Craig's family. Three teams that were drawn for the money prizes at the end of the meeting did not hesitate in donating their money which will go straight to Louise (Craig's wife) to help towards transport costs to Manchester to visit him in hospital. Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated please ask your teams this week if they are prepared to contribute? On that note I don't think doing my usual report with a joking theme would be appropriate so I will just report facts from last week. Men's Singles Macc rules Final, Tuesday 1st Nov Richard Podmore beat Mark Hughes. Making him a double winner after also winning the Men's Pairs Final with James Oldfield a few nights before. As Micky Blair wrote in his piece about this competition a feat only a handful of players have achieved in the history of Macc Pool. So well done Poddy congratulations International Rules League, Wednesday 2nd Nov A League Silktown A remain top after a 7-4 win and Adam Stevens and Andrew McKie both did 8 ball clearances. He had lots of support from people back home and did very well over all. Quite a few wins and loads more experience I'm sure against very good players. Scotch Pairs Semi Final, Sunday 6th nov Eddie Williams and Rick Bullock beat Nikki Oakes and Jimmy Yea 4-2. Apparently Nikki was unlucky to not take it to a deciding frame. In the other Semi Final, Roy Whyatt and Rob Oliver beat Lee Holmes and Carl Meehan by the same score 4-2. I watched this Semi and along with other spectators thought this match would also go to a deciding frame when Carl refused a pot on his last ball (looked in off) and lay a very good snooker. Sporting a new haircut Rob Oliver calmly played out of the snooker hitting the black full ball and doubled it into the top pocket. Well played all and congratulations to the four players making the Final. Earlier in the day some of these players had played for Cheshire County and had unfortunately lost to Lancashire.
